Dr. James Andrews Performs Tommy John Surgery on Braves Pitcher Arodys Vizcaino

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

James Andrews, MD, founder of Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in Gulf Breeze, Fla., recently performed ulnar collateral ligament repair on Atlanta Braves pitcher Arodys Vizcaino, according to a report from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Mr. Vizcaino partially tore his UCL while playing in the minor leagues in 2010, but the injury healed without surgery. However, he re-injured the elbow while pitching this spring.

Dr. Andrews performed the surgery, and Mr. Vizcaino will spend the next year recovering from the injury.
