Study Compares Three Posterior Dynamic Stabilization Devices

Spine

A study recently published in Spine examined the difference between the PercuDyne, X-Stop and Isobar Posterior stabilization devices for posterior dynamic stabilization. The devices were compared using in vitro cadaveric models and the measurements included foraminal area and posterior and anterior disc height. The researchers found the injury model was the most successful to increase range of motion and decrease disc height and foraminal area.

The PercuDyne system was most effective in preventing hyperextension. The X-Stop system was able to stabilize the posterior column and increase foraminal area in all conditions. The Isobar was the only device that stabilized the anterior column.
