Low back pain patients who undergo a self-management group intervention are more likely to experience success than patients who undergo individually-administered physical therapy, according to a report published in Spine.
The study compared 156 patients who either underwent a multicomponent pain and stress self-management group intervention or individually administered physical therapy. The researchers found better effects in the PASS group regarding primary outcomes, ability to control pain and self-efficacy for performing activities in spite of pain.
