Walter Virkus, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush in Chicago, recently expanded his practice into the western suburbs of Chicago, according to a MOR news release.
Dr. Virkus has a professional interest in orthopedic trauma and oncology. He works with patients who have complicated orthopedic conditions, such as benign and malignant tumors of soft tissue and bone. He has authored several book chapters and articles on orthopedic surgery and teaches courses on advanced fracture care techniques.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark and completed his residency at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. His additional training includes fellowships in orthopedic trauma at the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore and Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. He also completed a fellowship in orthopedic oncology at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
