12 Sports Medicine Physicians on the Move

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

Mercy Health Physicians in Cincinnati welcomed Michael Chen, MD. He completed his fellowship in sports medicine at Stanford (Calif.) University, where he worked with the San Francisco 49ers.

Two orthopedic surgeons, including sports medicine specialist Edward Choung, DO, joined North County Orthopaedic Group. He completed his fellowship in sports medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York.

, president of American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, recently joined NeuroSpine Institute of Orlando. He previously practiced at the University of Miami and was the team physician for the Miami Dolphins.

In the wake of leadership shuffle at Penn State, David Joyner, MD, was recently named the school’s Athletics Director. He sits on the school’s board of directors and has been inducted into its Hall of Fame.

Sumner Regional Medical Center in Tennessee recently named Jeff Kindred, DO, medical director of its BodyGuard Sports Medicine program. He completed his sports medicine fellowship at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.

Danville (Va.) Regional Medical Center welcomed John Mahoney, MD. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.

Greater Regional Medical Center in Iowa named Damian Mizera, MD, head of its new orthopedic and sports medicine center. He previously practiced sports medicine at St. Francis Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center in Maryville, Miss.

Brad Raphael, MD, a partner at Elite Healthcare Medical Associates, joined staff at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y. He completed his sports medicine fellowship at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles.

Pen Bay Orthopaedics in Maine recently welcomed Joseph Scordino, MD. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Iowa in Iowa City.

David Surdyka, MD, recently joined Kaweah Delta Health Care in California. He previously practiced sports medicine with Summit Orthopaedic Associates in California.

Four orthopedic surgeons, including sports medicine specialist Bradley Wasserman, MD, recently joined Winthrop-University Hospital in New York. Dr. Wasserman completed his sports medicine fellowship at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Peter Yeh, MD, recently joined Winchester Hospital in Massachusetts. He completed his sports medicine fellowship at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Institute in Los Angeles.
