Shane Nho, MD, a sports medicine physician with Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, was recently featured on a local ABC news report discussing treatment of hip impingement among young athletes, according to a practice news release.
Dr. Nho described the condition as "very subtle bony abnormalities, either on the ball side or the socket side" that start rubbing up against each other to create impingement-type pain and eventually laberal tears.
He said 78 percent of players were able to return to play, and more than 90 percent of those were about to return to the same level of competition. Dr. Nho performs an arthroscopic technique on his patients for the best outcomes, according to the report.
