Todd Albert, MD, is the president of Rothman Institute and chair of the department of orthopedic surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He also serves as co-director of reconstructive spine surgery and the spine fellowship program at Thomas Jefferson University. During his career, Dr. Albert has been president of the Cervical Spine Research Society and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Scoliosis Research Society, North American Spine Society and International Society for Study of the Lumbar Spine. He has been a guest editor for Seminars in Spine Surgery and The Spine Journal.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Albert has co-authored numerous articles published in peer-review and non-peer review journals. He has also presented nationally at professional meetings on his research in spine surgery. Pursuing academics is an important part of the practice, and all physicians at Rothman Institute are encouraged to participate.

"We think it's really important for our physicians to be as academic as possible," says Dr. Albert. "Our physicians speak nationally to other professionals. It helps differentiate our center as having really good surgeons who are also academically interested and full of knowledge about orthopedics."

Dr. Albert earned his medical degree at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. His additional training includes a spine surgery fellowship at Minnesota Spine Center.
