Tapan K. Daftari, MD, is a spine surgeon at Resurgens Orthopaedics in Atlanta with a special interest in reconstructive spine surgery and cervical and lumbar artificial disc replacement. He also performs minimally invasive procedures for patients. He practices at the Resurgens Austell, Kennesaw and Marietta offices. During his career, Dr. Daftari has been interested in technology and was among the first surgeons to use the Charite artificial disc for his patients. "There is now a way to restore functions, improve outcomes and preserve motion that was not previously available," Dr. Daftari said in a report for The Marietta Daily Journal. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Daftari is a member of the North American Spine Society, Atlanta Orthopaedic Society and American Medical Association. In 2011, he was named among the top physicians in orthopedic surgery by the U.S. News & World Report.
Dr. Daftari earned his medical degree at Northwestern University in Chicago and completed his residency at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. His additional training includes a fellowship in spine surgery at William Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Mich.
