MAKO Surgical has entered into a binding commitment for the establishment of 11 new MAKOplasty sites with Health Management Associates, an operator of acute-care hospitals in the Southeast and Southwest, according to a company news release.
MAKO Surgical markets both its RIO Robotic Arm Interactive Orthopedic surgical platform and RESTORIS implants for minimally invasive MAKOplasty procedures. It is expected that, through this multi-system order, the MAKOplasty sites will be established over the course of 2011.
MAKO Surgical President and CEO Maurice Ferre said this multi-system order reaffirms the company's previously announced annual guidance of 40-46 systems.
