Spinal Tech

Corin Group, a manufacturer and supplier of orthopedic devices, has entered into a five-year global distribution agreement with MAKO Surgical, according to a company news release.

Under the terms of the agreement, Corin will supply MAKO with the Metafix Hip System and the Trinity Acetabular Shell System for use with MAKO's RIO Robotic Arm Interactive Orthopedic System.

MAKO expects to include Corin hip implants among the hip systems available for use with the RIO following Corin's expected receipt of FDA 510(k) approval for certain Corin Trinity options. Subject to FDA clearance, a commercial release in the U.S. by MAKO of the Corin hip implant system is currently planned for the second half of 2011.
The agreement also allows for the potential future integration of other Corin implant systems.
