13 Orthopedic Surgeons Join to Form "Research in OsteoChondritis of the Knee"

Thirteen orthopedic surgeons have joined together with musculoskeletal radiologists, physical therapists and other researchers to form the Research in OsteoChondritis of the Knee, according to a Mass Device report. The new organization's goal is to advance OCD understanding for better diagnosis, treatment and prevention. During a meeting at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons headquarters, the 13 surgeons discussed research protocols and the completion of studies currently underway that can help reach this goal.

The participating orthopedic surgeons include:
•    Jim Carey, MD, director of Vanderbilt Center for Cartilage Repair and OCD Treatment
•    Hank Chambers, MD, of Rady Children's Hospital and UC San Diego
•    Eric Edmonds, MD, assistant director of the sports program, Rady Children's Hospital San Diego
•    Ted Ganley, MD, director of sports medicine at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
•    Min Kocher, MD, assistant director of sports medicine at Children's Hospital Boston
•    Roger Lyon, MD, director of pediatric sports medicine at Medical College of Wisconsin
•    M. Lucas Murnaghan, MD, The Hospital for Sick Children
•    Carl Nissen, MD, director of Elite Sports Medicine at Connecticut Children's Medical Center
•    John Polousky, MD, surgical director of sports medicine at Youth Sports Medicine Institute at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children
•    Kevin Shea, MD, Intermountain Orthopaedics
•    Eric Wall, MD, director of pediatric orthopedic surgery at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center
•    Jennifer Weiss, MD, at Children's Hospital Los Angeles
•    Rick Wright, MD, at Washington University
