The Marine Corps will open a new $15.5 million sports medicine program facility at its San Diego depot to diagnose and treatment injured recruits, as well as provide rehabilitation when necessary, according to a Stars and Stripes report.
The new 30,000-square-foot facility includes whirlpool tubs, anti-gravity treadmills and other special equipment, according to the report. The sports medicine program is designed to prevent and treat injuries such as shin splints, ankle sprains, stress fractures and concussions. The new facility is set to open in January.
