George Theodore, MD, recently performed a minimally invasive arthroscopic ankle debridement on New England Revolution defender A.J. Soares, according to an MLS report.
During his rookie season as a professional soccer player, Mr. Soares suffered damage to his ankle joint. Dr. Theodore was able to perform a procedure to clean the loose pieces of bone and cartilage from the joint last week at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Mr. Soares will spend six to eight weeks in rehabilitation and expects to return to play at the beginning of the 2012 season.
