David Altchek, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, will perform ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction on Minnesota Twins pitcher Kyle Gibson, according to a Star Tribune report.
Mr. Gibson decided to undergo Tommy John surgery after having a difficult time completing the initial phase of his rehabilitation program. The surgery means Mr. Gibson will be out for the rest of this season and most of next season as well.
