ImPACT baseline assessment testing is able to provide a measure of neurocognative performance in patients and should be updated every two years, according to a study published in American Journal of Sports Medicine.
Researchers examined 369 varsity high school athletes who completed the mandatory preseason baseline cognitive assessments for two consecutive years. There were no concussions reported by these athletes between assessment periods.
The intraclass correlation coefficients for ImPACT online showed the motor processing speed was the most stable composite score. ICC was followed by reaction time, visual memory and verbal memory, consecutively.
