The National Athletic Trainers' Association will launch a National Action Plan for Sports Safety at the fourth annual Youth Sports Safety Summit in Washington, D.C., in February. The National Action Plan is a new educational initiative to improve sports safety, achieve appropriate medical care in secondary schools and understand the potential risks, while encourage involvement in sports. Elements of the plan will include medical and emergency components of safe sports; national, state and local group collaboration to educate policymakers; legal and risk management issues; and official policies and statements on appropriate medical care for secondary school and young athletes.
