Neal ElAttrache, MD, a sports medicine physician at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles and team physician for the LA Dodgers, performed arthroscopic right knee on Dodgers reliever Javy Guerra, according to a MLB report.
The right knee surgery was performed to repair a tear in the lateral meniscus, which occurred when Mr. Guerra was struck by a line drive to the jaw. In reaction, Mr. Guerra spun while his spikes may have been stuck in the ground, causing him to twist his knee. Mr. Guerra is expected to be sidelined four to six weeks.
