Lewis Yocum, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, will perform shoulder surgery on Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Chris Narveson, according to a Wisconsin Journal Star report. Mr. Narveson underwent ulnar collateral ligament repair in 2001 and a subsequent shoulder surgery in 2005. After experiencing additional complications at the beginning of this season, Mr. Narveson consulted with Brewers team physician William Raasch, MD, and Dr. Yocum, who both recommended surgery to repair a rotator cuff tear.
Dr. Yocum will perform the arthroscopic repair in Los Angeles, and Mr. Narveson is expected to spend the rest of the season recovering from the injury.
