James Andrews, MD, founder of Andrews Institute for Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics in Gulf Breeze, Fla., will perform ulnar collateral ligament repair on Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Joel Zumaya later this month, according to an ESPN report.
Mr. Zumaya tore his UCL during his first bullpen session of spring training after not pitching in the Major Leagues last year due to a separate elbow injury. Dr. Andrews will perform the repair later this month, and Mr. Zumaya will spend the rest of the year recovering and rehabilitating.
