David Altchek, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, will perform a knee procedure for Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum during the All Star break, according to an ESPN LA report.
Mr. Bynum previously underwent surgery on his knee to repair torn cartilage in the summer of 2010. Now, halfway through the 2011-2012 season, he will receive a Synvisc injection from Dr. Altchek to relieve pain.
Mr. Bynum will sit out at least one game after the break to recover from the procedure.
