Three U-M Sports Medicine Surgeons Honored By American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine

Three surgeons from the University of Michigan Health System's sports medicine program, known as MedSport, were recognized for their substantial contributions to orthopedic sports medicine by the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, according to a U-M news release.


Asheesh Bedi, MD, assistant professor of sports medicine and shoulder surgery in the U-M Department of Orthopedic Surgery, received the Cabaud Memorial Award for his research examining the kinematics of the knee after injury, according to the release.

Bruce Miller, MD, assistant professor of orthopedic surgery in the U-M Department of Orthopedic Surgery, received the O'Donoghue Sports Injury Research Award for his study exploring ultrasound examinations after arthroscopic repairs in large shoulder rotator cuff tears, according to the release.

Jon Sekiya, MD, associate professor of orthopedic surgery in the U-M Department of Orthopedic Surgery, received the Excellence in Research Award for his paper on the effect of acetabular labrum tears on hip stability, according to the release.
