Here are 10 professional athletes who received orthopedic surgery over the past few months.

James Andrews, MD, founder of Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in Gulf Breeze, Fla., recently performed surgery to repair an elbow fracture on former Indians pitcher Hector Rondon. This was the second surgery Mr. Rondon received on his right arm, the first being a UCL repair.

Dr. Andrews also performed knee surgery on Washington Redskins running back Tim Hightower, who tore his ACL during an October game. He has begun his rehabilitation program and could recover in six to eight months.

Hospital for Special Surgery's Frank Cordasco, MD, performed a procedure to repair St. Louis Rams left tackle Roger Saffold's torn pectoral muscle. The injury was sustained while lifting weights and Mr. Saffold is expected to spend the next four to five months recovering.

Peter DeLuca, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with Rothman Institute in Philadelphia, performed arthroscopic knee surgery on Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger. Mr. Pronger's knee was structurally sound, but needed to undergo a procedure to remove loose bodies in his knee and expects to return to play early in 2012.

Los Angeles Dodgers team physician Neal ElAttrache, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, performed shoulder surgery on Dodgers closing pitcher Jonathan Broxton. After spending most of the 2011 season on the disabled list, Mr. Broxton opted for a surgical procedure where Dr. ElAttrache removed a bone spur and loose bodies from his shoulder.

Cleveland Clinic's Tom Graham, MD, performed wrist surgery on Texas Rangers first baseman Mitch Moreland, who suffered from tendonitis during the second half of the 2011 season. Dr. Graham performed surgery at the base of his wrist, which is now in a soft splint.

Professional golfer Brandt Snedeker recently sought hip surgery from Marc Philippon, MD, at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colo. Mr. Snedeker was suffering from degenerative tissue in his right hip and expects to return to competition in the 2012 season, after six to eight weeks recovering.

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Allen Craig recently underwent knee surgery at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colo. The injury was sustained last season and he played through the end of the World Series before seeking surgical treatment.

The Steadman Clinic's Randy Viola, MD, performed thumb surgery on Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, who injured his thumb during a game earlier this month. He will miss several, if not all, remaining games in the 2011-2012 season.
