Three spine specialists were honored today for their contributions to the field of spine surgery by the North American Spine Society, according to a NASS news release.
Kiyoshi Kaneda, MD, of Bibai-shi Hokkaido, Japan, was honored with the Leon Wiltse Award for excellence in leadership and/or clinical research in spine care.
Joel Press, MD, pas president of NASS and a professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Northwestern University School of Medicine in Chicago, was recognized with the David Selby Award presented for contributions to the art and science of spinal disorder management through service to NASS.
Gunnar Andersson, MD, PhD, chair of spinal deformities at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago and former president of the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine and Orthopaedic Research Society, was honored with the Henry Farfan Award for outstanding contributions in spine-related basic science research.
