Texas Surgery Center in Cedar Park Adds Outpatient Spine

Cedar Park (Texas) Surgery Center will start offering outpatient spine surgery through a new alliance formed with Austin (Texas) Neurosurgical Institute and Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery of Austin, according to a news release.

Under the arrangement, Dr. Thomas Loftus, founder of Austin Neurosurgical Institute, will perform minimally invasive spine procedures at the ambulatory surgery center.

Dr. Loftus has performed the procedures in the Austin area since launching the Austin Neurosurgical Institute in 2003, but only in hospitals. He is scheduled to perform his first outpatient spine procedure at CPSC in May.

The ASC, which opened in February, features five ORs and offers specialties including orthopedics, gynecology, urology, general surgery, spine and pain. CPSC is operated by Austin-based Arise Healthcare

"Surgery centers like CPSC benefit patients and the medical community for two primary reasons: lower costs and better care by featuring the latest in technology, high nurse-to-patient ratios and higher patient satisfaction scores," said Jared Leger, RN, CEO and managing partner of Arise Healthcare, according to the release. "We made a special point to invest in the latest cutting-edge technology to enable surgeons like Dr. Loftus to perform minimally-invasive procedures at our center."
