Houston Orthopedic and Spine Hospital Now Has Robotic Spine Surgery

The Houston Orthopedic and Spine Hospital purchased a Renaissance Mazor Robotics spine system, and will be among the first orthopedic spine specialty practices in the city to offer robotic minimally invasive spine surgeries. Dr. Richard Francis, CEO and founder of Spine Associates in HoustonRichard Francis, MD, is the CEO and founder of Spine Associates. After much study, his team found decided to incorporate the Mazor system into their practice.

"The Mazor Robotics Renaissance also allows performance of complex open spine procedures such as spinal deformity correction, revision procedures and spinal osteotomies," he said.

Dr. Francis also said the robotic assistance could leave patients with less pain, smaller incisions, shorter hospitalizations and faster recovery times. Surgeons may benefit from better direct line-of-vision and minimal intraoperative radiation.
