VA Boston Healthcare System is seeking $163 million in additional funds to build a new spinal cord injury unit and renovate the existing facility at its Brockton campus, according to an Enterprise report.
The federal government approved $24 million for the project in 2009.
The long-term care spinal cord injury unit would include 96 beds, and the existing 60-bed spinal cord injury unit would be converted to an outpatient mental health facility.
Rep. Stephen Lynch (D- Mass.) said he is working to secure the remaining funds for the Brockton VA project, according to the report.
