Spine Surgeon Leader to Know: Dr. James Macon of Framington-Wellesley Neurological Surgery

James Macon, MD, is a board certified neurological surgeon in private practice with Framingham-Wellesley Neurological Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurosurgeons. Dr. Macon helped develop technology for minimally invasive spine surgery, including the development of the Swivel Port System from Spine Surgical Innovation. The technology is designed to treat patients with herniated discs, pinched nerves and stenosis due to spinal arthritis through a small incision.

Dr. Macon earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed his neurosurgical residency at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. His additional training includes a surgical internship at Stanford (Calif.) University Medical Center. He was also a Fulbright Scholar at the College de France in Neuropharmacology.
