10 New Pain Management Facility Openings

Here are 10 new pain management centers that have opened thus far in 2011. Wisconsin-based Advanced Pain Management has opened a new clinic in Menomonee Falls, which will offer minimally invasive treatment options for chronic conditions. Yogendra Bharat, MD, will provide care at the clinic.

Pain management physician Sam Elghor, MD, opened a new practice in Baxter, Minn., called The Center for Pain Management. The new location is an extension of Dr. Elghor's Sartell-based practice, where he saw patient volume nearly double between 2005 and 2007.

Comprehensive Pain & Rehabilitation
opened a new 16,000-square-foot pain surgery center in Pascagoula, Miss. The center provides several interventional services, including spinal cord and peripheral nerve stimulation and is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.

A new pain management clinic was opened as part of Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Detroit Lakes, Minn., to address the hospital's growing pain patient volume.

Five anesthesiologists with a subspecialty interest in pain management and interventional spine procedures, opened Jersey Shore Pain Management in Egg Harbor Township, N.J. The practice treats patients with back pain, cancer pain and other types of chronic pain.

Boston-based Steward Health Care System's Norwood (Mass.) Hospital opened a new pain management center and relocated its existing pain management center to a new clinical outpatient space. Allison Gorski, MD, is the medical director of the center.

Southeast Pain Care partnered with Stanley Regional Medical Center in Albemarle, N.C., to open a new location on the hospital campus to treat pain patients. The Southeast Pain Care physicians are all fellowship-trained in pain management.

A new spine pain diagnostic center affiliated with Spine Pain Management opened in Orlando, Fla. The center, which includes fellowship-trained pain physicians to provide spine injections, began treating patients this past summer.

St. John Medical Center in Westlake, Ohio, recently announced an expansion of its Pain Management Center due to a rise in the volume of patients suffering from chronic pain.

Stanford Hospitals & Clinics
in Palo Alto, Calif., opened a headache clinic to offer a multidisciplinary approach to care. The clinic is directed by Rob Cowan, MD, and includes Meredith Barad, MD, a neurologist with pain management training.
