Florida Prescription Drug Database Underused After 1 Year

Pain Management

Florida created a prescription drug database designed to monitor prescription drug use and prevent abuse one year ago, but a new report shows that physicians are not using it, according to a report from the Tampa Bay Times. When the program was created, nobody was required to use it and over the past year prescribers only checked the database before writing 2 percent of the 48 million prescriptions issued. Some pain clinics believe it is underutilized because participation is not required.
