The Orthopaedic Specialists of Springfield (Mo.) closed at the end of August and Mercy Hospital Springfield has purchased its former building, according to the News-Leader. The 77,000-square-foot property includes a surgery center, imaging center and physician office space. Mercy is building a new orthopedic hospital to open in fall 2013. The 200,000-square-foot facility will include 10 operating rooms, 48 patient beds and cost $116 million.

Five of the group's physicians are now working for Mercy, making it the region's largest orthopedic group in the region, with services in Springfield, Branson, Joplin, Lebanon and Rolla.
