Effective March 1, Columbus (Neb.) Community Hospital has acquired Columbus Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Clinic, according to a Columbus Telegram report.
CCH President and CEO Mike Hansen said the transaction is an effort to continue to provide a strong orthopedic service line to the surrounding community, according to the report.
The clinic, which performs roughly 500 surgical procedures per year, currently has two physicians: founder Richard Cimpl, MD, and Mike McGuire, MD. CCH plans to add Ed Fehringer, MD, of the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha to the clinic and also hopes to add a fourth physician to the clinic later this year.
