Wisconsin Rapids-based orthopedic center McDonough Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center will join the Marshfield Clinic health system and change its name at the end of the month, according to a Wisconsin Rapids Tribune report.
McDonough Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center will change its name to Marshfield Clinic Wisconsin Rapids Orthopedic Center, effective Jan. 30. Marshfield Clinic is a healthcare system in northern, central and western Wisconsin with two hospitals and 52 community care centers.
The center was founded by John McDonough, MD, in 1982, four years after staring his own orthopedic practice. According to the report, the center is currently owned by three physicians — Dr. McDonough, Daniel Janik, MD, and Wayne Christie, MD.
All but one of the center's 16 full-time employees will continue employment with Marshfield Clinic. According to the report, the new partnership will allow for the addition of new services, such as expanded subspecialty orthopedic surgery.
