Lisa L. Michels, chief compliance officer for orthopedic device company Wright Medical Group, announced her resignation recently, according to a Daily News report.
Ms. Michels has worked at Wright Medical Group since 2008, and now the company's board of directors is conducting a national search for her replacement. John Knighton, director of compliance, has been named interim chief compliance officer, according to the report.
Wright Medical Group has faced compliance issues over the past few years, and came to an agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice to avoid prosecution for alleged violations of the federal kickback statute in 2009. The company paid the federal government $7.9 million without admitting wrongdoing, according to the report.
