MAKO Surgical Procedures Up 99% in 2011

MAKO Surgical reported fourth quarter revenue of $32.9 million, a 122 percent increase over the same period in 2010. The full year 2011 revenue increased 91 percent over 2010, reaching $84.5 million. The company reported:
•    Selling eight RIO systems during the fourth quarter, bringing the total number of systems installed worldwide to 113
•    2,258 MAKOplasty procedures performed during the fourth quarter, a 97 percent increase over the fourth quarter of 2010
•    6,932 MAKOplasty procedures performed in 2011, a 99 percent increase over 2010
•    37 MAKOplasty total hip arthroplasty applications sold in the fourth quarter, with a total of 49 applications sold in 2011

Sales of the company's new total hip arthroplasty application accounted for 44 percent of the domestic commercial installed base in 2011. In 2011, procedures accounted for $34.6 million, while systems sales accounted for $43.9 million.
