Ortho-tag has partnered with the University of Pittsburgh to use the Transcutaneous Near Field Communication technology in "smart" orthopedic implants, according to an NFC News report.
The researchers will use the Ortho-tag technology in the orthopedic implant to receive vital information about how the implant works. The technology keeps a record of patient information related to the implant and surgery, which will be used for ongoing research.
