A district court judge has granted a motion by Wright Medical Group to toss most allegations made by a patient and his wife, according to a Mass Device report. Patient Glenn Wollam and his wife accused Wright Medical Group of negligence after Mr. Wollam needed surgery to replace a broken Profemur metal-on-metal hip implant. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Tennessee requested more than 10 years' worth of documents to investigate the allegations.
Last month, a district court judge ruled the plaintiffs lacked sufficient evidence to pursue allegations that the hip implant was defectively manufactured though the judge is upholding other claims that the design was defective.
