Johnson & Johnson's Orthopedics Sales Up 10.8% in 2Q

Johnson & Johnson reported worldwide orthopedics sales at $1.6 billion for the second quarter of 2012, representing a 10.8 percent increase compared to the same period last year. In the United States, orthopedics sales were up 13.4 percent to $873 million and international orthopedics sales were up 8 percent to $755 million. The company's recent acquisition of Synthes contributed 2.9 percent to overall worldwide operational sales growth. Earlier this year, Johnson & Johnson acquired Synthes for $19.7 billion in cash and stock. As part of the transaction, the company agreed to sell its trauma business to Biomet.
