Study: Physician Use of Tablets on the Rise

Health Information Technology

Roughly 30 percent of physicians use a tablet, compared with 5 percent of the general U.S. consumer population, and 19 percent of physicians use that tablet in a clinical setting, according to a recent QuantiaMD study on tablets within physician practices.

The study included nearly 3,800 physicians, and here are other key findings from the study:

•    Of physicians who do not currently have a mobile device, 44 percent intend to purchase one in 2011, including tablets.
•    Roughly 65 percent of physicians think it is extremely likely or somewhat likely they will use a tablet in their practices.
•    The most common professional activity for physicians with tablets is searching for drug and treatment reference material.
