Peter DeLuca, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with Rothman Institute in Philadelphia, will perform arthroscopic knee surgery on Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger, according to a Philadelphia Inquirer report.
This will be the second knee procedure in as many years for Mr. Pronger, who has been sidelined for several games this season with a virus. According to the report, Mr. Pronger's knee is structurally sound and has good cartilage, but he will undergo a procedure to remove loose bodies in his knee.
Mr. Pronger is expected to return to play in early 2012.
