Here are ten spine surgeons at orthopedic and spine specialty hospitals around the country. Michael A. Arata, MD (Lutheran Health Network's The Orthopedic Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.). Dr. Arata practices with Fort Wayne Orthopaedics and is a physician owner of Lutheran Health Network's The Orthopedic Hospital. He has a professional interest in treating adult and pediatric scoliosis as well as conditions of the thoracic and lumbar spine. He is a member of several organizations, including North American Spine Society and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Arata earned his medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis and completed his residency in orthopedics at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Federico P. Girardi, MD (Hospital for Special Surgery, New York City).
Dr. Girardi is a spine surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery with a special interest in spinal deformity, degeneration, fracture and tumors. His clinical research involves minimally invasive surgery, clinical outcomes of different procedures and imaging modalities of the spine. He is also interested in investigating alternatives to spinal fusion for patients with degenerative disc disease. Gregory A. Hoffman, MD (Parkview Ortho Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.).
Dr. Hoffman is a spine surgeon at Parkview Ortho Hospital and partner in the group SpineONE. Jeffrey A. Kozak, MD (Texas Orthopedic Hospital, Houston).
Dr. Kozak practices with Fondren Orthopedic Group and holds appointments at several hospitals, including vice chief of staff at Texas Orthopaedic Hospital. During his career, he has been a founding member and president of the Texas Spine Society. He has also served on The Texas Worker's Compensation Spine Task Force and on committees for the North American Spine Society. Dr. Kozak has a professional interest in anterior approach to spine surgery, and he has participated in the design of several spinal implants. He also holds a patent for his invention of a spinal fixation device. Dr. Kozak earned his medical degree and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Gregory Misenhimer, MD (El Paso Specialty Hospital, El Paso, Texas).
Dr. Misenhimer is a spine surgeon at El Paso Specialty Hospital and has been a member of the El Paso Orthopaedic Surgery Group since 2007. Dr. Scaduto is the chief of staff and medical director at Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital and previously served as the interim president and CEO of the hospital. He also serves as a professor of pediatric orthopedics at the hospital. He has a professional interest in scoliosis, spinal deformity and limb deficiency, and he is a member of the Scoliosis Research Society. Eric Scott Wieser, MD (Baylor Orthopedic and Spine Hospital, Arlington, Texas).
Dr. Wieser practices with Arlington Orthopedic Associates and is a spine surgeon at Baylor Orthopedic and Spine Hospital. He is a member of several professional organizations, including American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and North American Spine Society. He has a professional interest in treating adult and pediatric spinal disorders and performs minimally invasive spinal surgical techniques. H. Randal Woodward, MD (Nebraska Spine Hospital, Omaha).
Dr. Woodward is the chairman of Nebraska of the board of managers of Nebraska Spine Hospital. He is a member of several professional organizations, including American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, North American Spine Society and Scoliosis Research Society. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Woodward is a reviewer for Spine and has published several articles based on his research in professional journals. He has also given presentations internationally on his research and technique. Dr. Woodward earned his medical degree at Northwestern University in Chicago and completed his residency in orthopedics at the University of Chicago. His additional training includes a fellowship in spine surgery at the University of Rochester (N.Y.).
