Pain Management

Research suggests sleeping longer may help relieve chronic pain in adults, according to Psych Central. The study shows sleeping longer is associated with an increase in daytime alertness and reduced pain sensitivity. Experts were surprised by the magnitude of the reduction in pain sensitivity when compared to taking codeine, the report said.

Study participants in the extended sleep group slept 1.8 hours more per night than the habitual sleep group.
