New Orthopedic Center to Open at Mon General Hospital in West Virginia

Practice Management

Mon General Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., will open its new orthopedic center Jan. 30, according to a hospital news release. The orthopedic center includes four operating rooms that are nearly twice the size of the hospital's previous orthopedic ORs, 13 private pre- and post-operation rooms and an eight-bed post-anesthesia recovery unit. The facility also has room to build two additional ORs if needed.

Mon Health System President and CEO Darryl Duncan said the hospital performs approximately 3,600 orthopedic procedures annually, an increase of roughly 20 percent over the past five years, according to the release.

Darlene Bryte, RN, is the center's coordinator. Two physician practices will serve at the orthopedic center: MountainState Orthopedic Associates, which includes Matthew P. Darmelio, MD, Lloyd Kurth, DO, Chad Micucci, MD, Gregg O'Malley, MD, Chris Vasilakis, MD, and Nick Zervos, MD; and Mountaineer Orthopedic Specialists with William Post, MD.

The hospital's previous orthopedic center will be converted into a dedicated endoscopy center, which is scheduled to open later this summer.
