Wright Medical Group has received FDA 510(k) Clearance for its PROPHECY INBONE Pre-Operative Navigation Alignment Guides for total ankle replacement, according to a company news release.
The system is now on limited release throughout the United States with full release expected during the second half of 2011. The system is designed to use CT scans of the patient's ankle to create patient-specific ankle alignment guides for a more precise procedure.

Gregory Berlet, MD, of the Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Center in Columbus, Ohio, performed the first surgery using the system.
