Houshang Seradge, MD, a hand surgeon at the Orthopedic Institute in Oklahoma City, recently developed an outpatient procedure for athletes with injuries to extensor tendons in their hand, according to a practice news release.

Coaches and physicians may initially treat these types of injuries as sprains, but if they aren't treated appropriately they could be disabling. The surgery can help patients with extensor tendon injuries that haven't fully healed on their own.
