Here are six statistics about compensation of podiatrists, based on whether the podiatrist was employed by a hospital, according to 2009 data from the 2010 MGMA Physician Compensation and Production Survey.


1. Median annual compensation for hospital-employed general podiatrists was $236,309 in 2009.
2. Median annual compensation for non-hospital-employed general podiatrists was $247,837.
3. Median annual compensation for hospital-employed podiatrists specializing in foot and ankle surgery was $185,000.
4. Median annual compensation for non-hospital-employed podiatrists specializing in foot and ankle surgery was $200,026.
5. Median annual compensation for hospital- employed podiatrists specializing in forefoot-only surgery was $236,950.
6. Median annual compensation for non-hospital-employed podiatrists specializing in forefoot-only surgery was $303,783.
